Amiga Inc is hiring

Amiga Inc has appointed MRI - Management Recruiters of Boise, Idaho - to find two Vice Presidents and a Director for the corporation. An employee named John Jocke is working on this. Emphasis in the job descriptions is on working with "OEMs" (computer systems builders) and "partners" rather than on building complete systems, though creation of "hardware reference designs" is mentioned.

While these are still early days for Amiga, Inc, the position descriptions do give us some clues about the way the corporation is headed. Erich Keser, one of the Society's Trustees, gave this reaction:

Here are the position descriptions in full:


Title: Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Job function

This position is the head of Amiga's Sales and Marketing Organization and is responsible for the OEM partnership. ISV partners and marketing and PR of the Amiga brand and followers. Responsible for creating long term strategies involving the sales and marketing of AMIGA. Set sales goals and monitor progress.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Responsible for signing up leading OEM partners for licensing Amiga technology to power their systems. Attract leading application software companies to support Amiga platforms. Responsible for the marketing and PR of the Amiga brand and building consumer recognition throughout the world. Responsible for identifying and seizing opportunities in the rapidly changing software marketplace; developing and implementing comprehensive marketing plans and strategies; creating marketing, advertising and public relations materials; and gathering and assimilating market information. Build, staff and organize the AMIGA sales organization. Motivate and mentor the sales force to meet ambitious sales goals.

Reporting relationships

This position reports directly to the General Manager/Head of Amiga, Inc. Reporting to this position will be OEM sales, software & content evangelist, licensing and contract negotiations, and Amiga marketing. The Sales and Marketing organization will work in union with the Technology and Development organization for customer feedback and marketing requirements for the technology.

Working conditions

Normal office environment. Domestic and international travel will be required.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in business or related field and at least ten years of sales management experience required or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. The person should have a proven history of success in OEM sales, software marketing and sales and marketing brands.

Title: Vice President of Technology and Development

Job function

This position will be the head of Amiga's Technology and Development organization and is responsible for the overall technology roadmap. Responsible for managing and directing the engineering activities which include planning, strategies, specification definitions, development, quality assurance and support of Amiga's technology.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Reporting to this position will be the team leaders (Directors and Senior Managers) of the platform developments, the Director of Operating Systems, as well as the group responsible for PDK documentation and user interfaces.

Responsible for building, staffing, directing and organizing a group responsible for creating PDK and components including an operating system, hardware reference designs, user interface, applets, etc. that will be licensed to Amiga's partners. This group may also support select partners' developments outside the targeted platform.

Responsible for creating a technological support team for 3rd party software and content developers and OEMs' products.

Reporting relationships

This position reports directly to the General Manager/head of Amiga, Inc. The Technology and Development organization will work in union with the Sales and Marketing organization as their first line customer.

Working conditions

Normal Office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended CRT viewing, some travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

A Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 12 years of experience in electronics and computer design is required; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience with managing teams is required. Proven history of successful individual effort and management of strategic planning, product marketing and technology development.

Title: Director, Amiga Operating System

Job function

This position is the head of operating system development organization and activities. This position is responsible for all operating system releases. The position is responsible for management, structure and quality of the operating system and its extensions. This position will be responsible for the planning, defining, development, quality assurance and support of Amiga's OS.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Responsible for building and directing software engineers, as well as testing and support for 3rd party software and content developers. The output of this group is the standalone OS releases, and the OS customization and modules for the select OEM accounts.

Reporting relationships

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Technology and Development. Reporting to this position will be the following: all software engineers, quality assurance groups, software applications testing and peripheral software efforts outside the platform generation teams.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in Computer Science, and 10 years of experience in electronics and computer software design is required; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
